Eric appeared as Widow Twankey in "Aladdin" and Sarah the Cook in "Dick Whittington" over two seasons produced by Kevin Wood at the old Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. Both were very happy experiences and began a long and enjoyable friendship with Kevin Wood. Eric was brought in to replace the wonderful Colin Devereaux, (Dockyard Doris) who had been scheduled to play dame but had to pull out of the production due to ill-health. Both shows also featured the fabulous and sadly missed Dave Lee.
