Pantomime Dame

Eric has appeared as Dame in 26 pantomimes over the years, often having written and directed the show as well.  Appearing in venues across the country from Glasgow to Bristol, Liverpool to Wimbledon he has been fortunate enough to work with some of the biggest names in the business including Dame Edna Everage, Barbara Windsor, Bradley Walsh, Craig Revel Horwood, Cilla Black, David Hasselhoff, Priscilla Presley, Paddy McGuiness and many others.

Television & Radio Regular

With roles as a series regular in Coronation Street and Brookside as well as many appearances in some of the nation’s favourite TV shows including Casualty, Emmerdale, Still Game, Doctor Who, Citizen Khan and many others Eric is a well known face wherever he goes.  He can also be heard regularly on BBC Radio Drama productions having recorded over 40 different radio plays and programmes.

Theatre Performer

Having trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, stage work was always going to be Eric’s first choice when it came to performing.  He has appeared at many of the country’s top repertory theatres and touring venues as well as in London’s West End and abroad.  Playing roles as diverse as Falstaff in “The Merry Wives of Windsor” and Polonious in “Hamlet” to Les Dawson in “Cissie & Ada” and Stegasaurus in David Wood’s “The Meg & Mog Show” Eric’s versatility has served him well during his 33 years in the business!

Eric is thrilled to announce that he has been appointed  Artistic Director at Imagine Theatre joining their head-office team in Coventry at the beginning of July 2021.   Eric has been writing and directing for Imagine for a number of years, and he will further develop their broad range of talented writers and creative colleagues within his wider duties.

"By the Waters of Liverpool" ​


It is with real sadness that Eric has to announce that he has had to withdraw from the scheduled autumn tour of this wonderful play due to his recent appointment as Artistic Director of Imagine Theatre.  Eric wishes the producers, Pulse Records & Bill Elms every success with the tour and is very much looking forward to catching up with the show and the brilliant cast during the production.

Best-known for his role as Coronation Street’s eccentric baker Diggory Compton, Eric Potts stars as Dame Nora Crumble - and will have you laughing your Christmas socks off.

Eric has appeared in and written numerous pantomimes over the last two decades, bringing his unique brand of comedy and showmanship, in an array of outrageous costumes much to audiences' delight.
